Prop 494 Strengthens Emergency Response

Proposition 494 is an investment in safety for EVERY neighborhood in the Superstition Fire and Medical District.

When you call 911, you expect firefighters and EMS professionals to arrive quickly and prepared. Prop 494 is how we make that possible; together.

This isn’t just a fire and medical district initiative; it’s a community commitment. By supporting Prop 494, you’re directly investing in the people who keep you and your family safe. It ensures your emergency responders have the training, equipment, and resources they need to save lives and safeguard property.

Prop 494 isn’t just about upgrading buildings or buying gear; it’s about working hand in hand as a community to strengthen emergency services for every neighborhood. When we invest in our firefighters and EMS professionals, we invest in the safety of every family and business within our district.

how we got here

In 2012, Arizona voters passed Proposition 117 to help stabilize property taxes. While well-intended, it has made it harder for fire districts statewide to keep up with rising costs and growing emergency needs.

Since then, emergency calls have surged, populations have grown, and home values have increased, but funding for fire and EMS services has not kept pace. Year after year, we’ve stretched every dollar to protect every neighborhood, but the gap is widening.

Prop 494 aims to close that gap, ensuring your fire district has the necessary tools, training, firefighters, and EMS professionals to respond quickly and effectively when seconds matter. Without it, response times slow, equipment ages out, and fewer firefighters stand ready when you need help most.

With your support, we can protect lives, property, and every corner of our community, without sacrificing our community's safety.

What’s the Cost of Safety? Just $4 a Month.

For about the cost of a cup of coffee, the average homeowner can help invest $33.8 million into protecting what matters most:

  • Fast, reliable emergency response

  • The tools and training our firefighters need

  • Lower homeowner insurance rates

  • A safer future for every family in our District

This small monthly investment delivers life-saving returns for the entire community.

Prop 494 isn’t just about numbers; it’s about ensuring every family, every business, and every community receives quick, life-saving emergency response when it’s needed most.

Your contribution helps us reach voters, share the facts, and invest in your firefighters and EMS professionals who dedicate their lives to keeping you safe.

Fire Districts Aren’t Funded Like Cities

Unlike cities, which receive support from sales revenue, impact fees, and state-shared funds, fire districts are on their own.

They rely on the communities they serve to fund essential operations, equipment, and facility improvements.

When you invest in your fire district, you're investing in your own safety.

Every penny directly supports community safety, helping ensure firefighters have the tools they need to respond quickly, perform effectively, and keep our families, businesses, and neighborhoods safe.
